At 4 p.m. on May 3, 2024, Donald Miner, 62, Elkalnd, was headed west on MO 38, eight miles west of Buffalo, in a 1999 Plymouth Neon, when James R. Wilson, 18, Buffalo, headed east in a 2003 Ford F150, turned left into the path of Miner. The impact caused serious injuries to Miner and he was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The Ford F150 faced moderate damage and the Plymouth Neon faced extensive damage. Both drivers were wearing a safety device. more

Buffalo Mayor Brandon Kenall sat down with the Buffalo Reflex to discuss progress in Buffalo. He pointed out several new builds across the city, including duplexes on the lots at the northeast corner of Locust and Madison streets. A new home is going up on Ramsey and Locust. The RV park is almost completely located behind Walmart and entering the US. Hwy. 65 where the log cabins have been going up this year. more

At 7:15 p.m. on May 6, 2024, Charles E. Welker, 66, Tunas, was headed north on US 65, six miles north of Fair Grove, in a 1997 GMC Sierra 1500 when Christopher J. Holdren, 30, Buffalo, struck the rear of the GMC Sierra in a 2005 Saturn Vue. An occupant of the GMC Sierra, Alissa Wood, 51, Tunas, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Cox South in Springfield. The Saturn Vue faced extensive damage and the GMC Sierra faced minor damage and was driven from the scene. Both drivers were wearing a safety device. more
Peggy Bancroft is retiring after dedicating over 35 years to the Dallas County School District. She began her career as a crossing guard at Mallory Elementary. Peggy became a substitute bus driver in 1989 then started driving a full-time bus route in 1990, and she continued to do that for 11 years. In 2002 she started transporting 4th graders during the day to the Woods Building classrooms. Peggy has also driven numerous years of career center runs when the school was located in Louisburg. As if she didn't wear enough hats, Peggy also filled in as a sub driver when needed.  more

The lake is a short drive away for fishing, boating and beaches. Ice cream is served across the county to help cool down hot summer days. Freshly mowed lawns are releasing that summertime fragrance all around. more
The Dallas County School district will be applying for the next cohort of 21st CCLC grants. The school district has been awarded three consecutive five year grants. The grant allows for before and after school programming for Dallas County Students. The program allows a safe and engaging place for students in those crucial hours that families are commuting to and from work.  Adult education and family engagement is an active part of this program as well. The due date for the application is at the end of May and we hope to hear of award by the end of June. The process is long and tedious and a highly competitive federal funded grant in Missouri. When all is said and done, the Dallas County Courthouse will be the sole mid-century modern courthouse in the state, looking and functioning like a new building.   more
